Meet Tamara from PAIKO

Tamara Rigney is the Founder and Creative Director of PAIKO, a botanical boutique, featuring a curated selection of plants, cut flowers and home goods. As a partner of this year's Diner en Blanc, we asked Tamara for some inspiration on picnics, florals and their upcoming flower crown workshop, the perfect accessory for the event.

What is your favorite spot to picnic in Honolulu?
On the grassy slopes near Diamond Head lookout

If you needed to put together a picnic basket for two in under 30 minutes, what would it include?
I like to go to deli and sample everything, then have them wrap up a smorgasbord of bits and pieces. An all-star picnic basket includes Midnight Moon goat cheese, crunchy red grapes, and a good dry Riesling.

What advice do you have for people putting together their floral centerpieces?
Be loose with your composition and go outside to find flora. Sometimes the perfect arrangement is made up of one or two plant materials arranged a balanced way.

What are you looking forward to most about attending this year's Diner en Blanc Honolulu?
Seeing what people bring to eat! Courtney (my business partner) and I probably won’t be shy about asking for bites.

Tell us about your Flower Crown workshops and why it would be the perfect accessory for Diner en Blanc.
At our crown classes we teach you technique and all about the different flowers, then set you loose to create headpieces from a buffet of flowers. People bring wine and have fun with it. Flower crowns celebrate the everyday and bring out your inner nature goddess. Who wouldn’t want to be a goddess floating around the sea of white at Diner en Blanc?

Paiko is offering Diner en Blanc guests a special rate for the Tropical Floral Crown Workshop on Friday, June 19th at 5:30pm with promo code: dinerenblanc
